Scottish Golf Course Images and Retail

A selection of the best images from my library.

All photographs are personally printed and signed by Iain or Chris Lowe, printed on Kodak 360gsm silk paper or fine art canvass. Kodak prints are shipped in a rigid postal tube and canvas prints are boxed and already stretched onto the frame, gicle varnished, backed and ready for hanging.

St Andrews Old Course Hole-by-Hole portfolioThis portfolio presents a hole-by-hole look at all 18 challenges that await you on The Old Course. The humps and hollows, bunkers to be avoided and rumpled greens. For many golfers this is the ultimate golf pilgrimage, the trip of a lifetime but beware - you may enjoy it so much that you will want to return again and again!!

Scottish Links Aerial Images portfolioThe aerial perspective provides a unique view of golf courses, a cross between art and information - if you are considering a visit to one of these courses, these images may help you to make your selection and build the anticipation.

As this portfolio grows it is also taking a more organised shape. I am now placing the images into their geographical areas - St Andrews area including Kingsbarns and Crail, The West coast from Turnberry in the South through Prestwick and up to Irvine in the North , The North of Scotland from Royal Dornoch down through Castle Stuart to Cruden Bay and finally the Edinburgh area including North Berwick and Gullane.

Later in the year i will be adding new courses.

Carnoustie Golf Links images portfolioThis is, arguably, the toughest test on The Open rota and maybe the finest. The bunkers are strategically placed, sit up tall and are always in the eye line - challenging. Correct shot selection and execution is crucial but so is course management if errors are not to be wildly expensive. It plays far longer than the yardage indicates.

Snow on The Old Course 2013 portfolio2013 has been one of coldest winters for 50 years, even now ( April) it is struggling just a few degrees above freezing. These are the best if the snow shots I was able to get between Jan and March.

Trump Turnberry 2016 - 2017 portfolioTrump Turnberry has been placed number 1 in Golf Magazine's top 100 for UK & Ireland, just 6 months after re-opening.

The elevation of three places, from the old designs position, is not remarkable; those who have had the good fortune to visit and play during 2016 will not be surprised.

It is amazing that a major re-model, on this scale, could be completed in 9 months -- in Scotland! All 18 greens re-laid, all fairway bunkers re-designed and/or moved and 8 new hole-layout or positions with new greens sites - a major upgrade in every respect. But it is the drama, visual spectacle and continual run of very good golf holes that has produced this new rating.

A golf experience not to be missed.

St Andrews Old Course portfolioWhat can I say about the Old course that has not been said before? Answer, nothing.

First time players are nervous on the first tee, awed and challenged by the size of the double-greens and liable to be engulfed by the cavernous bunkers; the time will pass too quickly.

Kingsbarns Golf Links images portfolioMy 2nd favorite golf course (The Old 1st) - a perfect balanace of par 3's combine with the true forgiving 'risk and reward' nature of links golf and an inspired layout and routing. Set all of this against the crashing waves of the North Sea and it is a golfers, and photographers, paradise.

Cruden Bay portfolioA half hour north of Aberdeen and one of the most enjoyable courses to hit a golf ball. Varied holes skirt in and around some dunes with a couple right on the shoreline.

Muirfield portfolioI have only played Muirfield twice and each time I enjoyed a little success but was challenge at every turn. It is a fair and continuos test on which absolute patience is the key, at all levels.

Gleneagles portfolioThe James Braid designed Kings and Queens courses are absolute gems, they are now accompanied by the PGA course, which has hugely benefited from extensive remodelling (UK) in preparation for the 2014 Ryder Cup. Three amazing courses set against the imposing backdrop of the Scottish Highlands - perfect.

Turnberry Ailsa Championship Course portfolioMay 2016

The images in this portfolio are now out of date. The Many changes implemented over the last 9 months have moved greens and tees, as well as created two completely new holes.

Our new Trump Turnberry portfolio reflects all of these changes and will continue to be updated as the year goes on.

Royal Dornoch Golf Links portfolioRoyal Dornoch Championship links course, situated 40 miles North East of Inverness, is a personal favorite. It offers a superb routing, traditional pot bunkers and a variation of challenges. Not to be missed.

Castle Stuart Golf Links portfolioCastle Stuart opened just a few years ago, to rave revues, and is (unsurprisingly) the brainchild of Mark Parsinen (Kingsbarns). His personal touch has once again produced a masterpiece which gives golfers of all levels the ultimate level of challenge, opportunity, playability and pleasure - all set against the backdrop of the Moray Firth and the Black Isles, across the water. A must for all golfers visiting Scotland.

Crail Balcomie and Craighead courses portfolioCrail Golfing Society is situated just 9 miles from St Andrews and has two courses. The Balcomie course which is an old, traditional and shorter course, plays around the bay and is great fun; the Craighead course which is about 10 years old, is a longer and sterner test. Combined they offer a wonderful day of golf, add in the long history (over 200 years) and perfectly positioned clubhouse which has panoramic views out to sea --- it is a must visit destination

St Andrews New Course portfolioOpened in 1895 and laid out by Old Tom Morris, it plays right beside The Old Course, and has hardly changed in over 100 years. It is a stern test with many fairways lined by gorse bushes, which just swallow up the errant shot and leave little chance of wading in to find it here. A course that manages to sparkle within the shadow of its renowned neighbour.

Prestwick Golf Links portfolioPrestwick is home to The Open Championship (1860) and played host no fewer than 24 times, up until 1925. Although deemed short by modern standards it is still the full challenge, where precise shot-making and careful course management are required through all 18 holes and even then it fairly tests your ability to play to your handicap.. This is a course full of individual character, wonderful condition and should not be missed, while the clubhouse oozes history and tradition in the greatest of comfort.

Trump International Golf Links Aberdeen portfolioNot to be confused with Trump Turnbery, some four hours drive away on the West coast of Scotland.

I have had the good fortune to play this course twice and photographed it on five occasions. It is without doubt one of the most stunningly beautiful courses but so is new reborn Trump Turnberry.
